Further, degaussing is the only way of erasing old formatting on DLT media, which then allows the tape to be re-used on today's newer DLT drives.

The CDS-4400ED Eliminator Degausser will erase all magnetic media up to 2300 oersted metal particle tape: Hard Disks, LTO 1 and 2, Super DLT 1 and 2, DLT IV, 10 1/2" reels, VHS, U-Matic, S-VHS, MII, D1, D2, D3, D5, 4MM, 8MM, HI 8, DAT, DIGITAL BETACAM SP, DVCAM, DVCPRO, DIGITAL-S, HDTV and MIRROR MOTHER.

For hard drive erasure, we recommend also purchasing the machine with the optional "Turn-A-Drive" Carrier (HDH-4400). Simply place the hard drive in the carrier, run it through the conveyor, and it will rotate itself, ensuring complete erasure every time. Usage of the Carrier enables one-pass erasure for hard drives.
